He was a small kid from a small town
That never had a chance
His home town in Austria in a dire circumstance
After two world wars everybody there felt defeated
No one could relate to a kid who’s ambition could not be treated
From the country land and disconnected fields of oblivion
He grew up dreaming that one day he would be an olympian
Told everyone who’d listen “I’m going to America”
He knew that one day he would grow too big for Austria
Arnold, calm down, that is impossible
Said people who had no idea of what he is capable
With a large back and big arms he glimpsed the future
Be the best there ever was, a perfectly sculpted creature
His heart set and mind full of determination
Bodybuilding he knew would be his new emancipation
He found a gym and moved his feet, at one point he just lived there
It grew so cold he wrap the weights in towels that were threadbare
He woke up at the crack of dawn each and every morning
He lifted then, again at lunch, and once more in the evening
At the end of every workout, his smile would be beaming
He approached, he could see every competitor retreating
Then he was drafted to the military
Place where they pressured him to think that he was ordinary
Life’s run by the system, there is no time for competitions
Couldn’t do the things he needed to accomplish all his visions
But Arnold isn’t weak, not in his body, soul, or mind
Damn it, he would find a way to get out of this bind
By now he was so big he could provide the inspiration
Every soldier in his unit wanted some of his attention
Even officers admired his Adonis like physique
Wanted to learn form every aspect of his bench pressing technique
So he sourced some weights and set them up right beside his tank
He led and movement of a dozens of soldiers, transcended his rank
Then one day the “Mr. Europe” contest came
Arnold knew if he won this, life would never be the same
He asked permission to go but was flat out rejected…
