Высоко в горах росла деревня одна

И с каждым годом та деревня становилась больше
И каждый день на обрыве люди встречали солнце

В той деревне жил самый простой народ
Они ловили птиц из неба и рыбу из вод
Никого не боялись и не знали тревог
Ведь в народе обитал свой мудрец-пророк

Его слова всегда доходили до конца
Он пророчил счастье внукам и гибель отцам
Его слова, как стрелы, попадали точно в цель
И от того поспорить с ним никто бы не посмел

«Скоро в наши края нагрянет война»
За это время племя выстроило баррикады
И враг не смог подойди, встретивши преграды
Однажды он сказал, что нагрянут морозы

С такой силой, что не каждый видеть лето сможет
Накопили припасы, утеплились везде
И за ту зиму потеряли лишь троих людей
Но сегодня пророк вышел чуть не плача

Говоря о том, что миру не светит удача
Он такое узнал, что кругом голова
«Слушай меня, мой великий и смелый народ
Я вас спасал от беды уже не первый год

Но завтра ждет нас, то, к чему я не готов
Завтра утром рано в небе солнце не взойдет»
И после этого он в хижину свою ушел
Пока всех жителей народа охватывал шок

У всех руки опустились, слезы потекли
Все понимали, что на гибель племя обрекли
Кто был духом слаб, со скалы упал
Кто с веревкой в лес пошел и остался там

Кто-то выпил яда, кто-то руки наложил
Кто же знает, что за муки ждут нас впереди?
Другие, вещи похватав, кинулись бежать
Мол, все обойдется за пределом рубежа

«Может, солнце выйдет где-нибудь в других краях?»
С такой мыслью и бегут, куда глаза глядят
Но в народе есть и те, кто внутри силен
Кто спокоен духом перед штормом иль огнем

И, собравшись вместе, люд, колени приклонив
Стал молиться перед богом за себя и за них
И лишь немногие к рассвету остались в селе
Они держались, но надежды на спасение нет

Чтобы принять судьбу, они смотрели смело в небо
Каждый мечтал о рае, но никто там еще не был
И вот пробил час, каждый к смерти готов
Но неожиданно на небе солнце взошло

Неужели наш пророк ошибался в беде?
Толпа кричит: «Обманщик!» и бежит к нему
Но в хижине их ожидало тело на полу

High in the mountains grew the village alone
